GoalHow To Remove and Replace X4100 PCI CardSolution*DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS*WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: Schedule with customer within contractual terms ESTIMATE AP DURATION: 30 Minutes *FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS* WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. System needs to be shutdown by customer WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Power off the server 2. Disconnect all power cables 3. Disconnect any data cables connected to the PCI Card being serviced 4. Remove the Top Cover -Press down on the cover release button and, using the indent for leverage, slide the main cover toward the rear of the chassis approximately 0.5 inch -Grasp the cover by its rear edge and lift it straight up from the chassis 5. Remove the PCI card from the slot -Working from the rear of the chassis, lift up the PCI Card Securing Latch -Carefully pull the PCI card out of the PCI riser 6. Install new PCI card -Insert the PCI card into the PCI riser -Push down the PCI Card Securing Latch 7. Install the top cover 8. Connect any data cables you removed to service the PCI card 9. Connect all power cables OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Customer might need to consult the PCI card specific manual for procedure to bring the card into operation PARTS NOTE: N/A REFERENCE INFORMATION: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19121-01/ Attachments This solution has no attachment |
