Description
This document will help troubleshoot RSC console access problems, i.e. when the system console is redirected to the RSC
Symptoms:
  1. Console appears hung

  2. Console is blank

  3. Can not get the console using RSC

Steps to Follow
Please validate that each troubleshooting step below is true for your Remote system control.

If the console reports that it is in use, you need to clear any open sessions that may not have been closed.
rsc> console
Console session already in use.
If the console is busy, run either of the following commands to reset the console and clear any open sessions:

From the rsc prompt:

   rsc> resetrsc

From the OS:

/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/rscadm resetrsc

If this is not the case and the console seems to be hung, blank or no prompt, follow these steps.

  1. Verify the system is up and responds to ping. Do this by pinging either the Ipaddress or the host name.

  2. Verify you can telnet or ssh to the Operating Environment. Do this by trying to telnet or ssh to the host IPaddress or host name as required by your environment.

  3. Verify the EEPROM settings are correct. <Document: 1011888.1>  How to set up the RSC console on SunFire {TM} 208R, V480, V490, V880, V890, and V880z servers.

  4. Verify that you still cannot get to the console after re-seating the RSC card. <Document: 1005513.1>  How to Re-seat or Replace the Remote System Controller (RSC/SC) Card.

  5. Verify that you still cannot get to the console after replacing the RSC card. <Document: 1005513.1>  How to Re-seat or Replace the Remote System Controller (RSC/SC) Card.

  6. At this point, if you have validated that each troubleshooting step above is true for your environment, and the issue still exists, further troubleshooting is required. Gather explorer data collector from the system, and then contact My Oracle Support for additional support.
