Troubleshooting DetailsSmoke Detection:The air flow pattern is designed to draw air from the front of the library through the cartridge drive area, assuring that smoke in any part of the library will be accurately detected. In the event that a fire has produced excessive and dangerous smoke within the library, photoelectric smoke detectors (mounted in rear, upper right of the electronics and drive module) activate and all power shuts down. (Taken from SL8500 Install Manual) To test the Smoke Detector: Acquire a can of 'smoke' and spray over the detector. The library should EPO (power off) when the detector is functional. This is a Disruptive procedure and should be scheduled with the customer. Note: The 'TEST' letters on the smoke detector do not indicate any type of test button on the detector. Replacement of Smoke Detector: Removal and replacement of the smoke detector is now an annual preventive maintenance (PM) requirement. Remove and replace only the detector (non-disruptive), not the base (disruptive).
