This section provides tips (when available) for the most common
repair procedures for the Sun Fire E2900. The repair procedures are provided
in the following manual:
Component |
Tips |
CPU/Memory Board |
- The Vcore setting for UltraSPARC IV 1350MHz boards should be
1.25V, but some earlier releases of firmware will power on
and operate the board at an incorrect voltage.
(FIN I1166-1).
|
Disk Drive |
-
Improved firmware for Seagate 10K.6 disk drives will reduce the incidence of unexpected o

|
I/O Assembly |
- PCI-X assemblies on Sun Fire E2900 Server have been marked with a 33MHz/66MHz sticker
even though they can operate at up to 100MHz.
(FAB 1000073.1).
- E2900/V1280 systems that have the PCI+ IB_SSC IO Assembly will not be able to install
or boot from Solaris 9 9/05 DVD or CD.
(FAB 1000952.1).
The new PCI+ IB_SSC IO Assembly is not properly supported by any release of Solaris 8.
(FAB 1001327.1).
|
Memory |
- On certain Sun Systems a small number of 512MB and 1GB Micron DIMMs may experience premature failures with Uncorrectable Memory Error (UE) messages. (FAB 1000920.1) (formerly FCO A0285-1)
|
Miscellaneous |
- Preventing potential system outages through proactive cooling improvements on Sun Fire Entry Level servers.
